The Meadow of Friendship

A long, long time ago there were three forests. There was the Dark Forest, the Light Forest and the Uni Forest. The Dark Forest was always dark and there was never any light. The Light Forest was always light and never dark. The Uni Forest was both light and dark and kept a magical secret.

Deep in the Uni Forest laid a unicorn whose name was Uni. She had magical powers beyond any magic in the land. It was known if you were ever able to catch her, she would give you all her riches and cures for any sickness in the land.

One day a light fairy named Starlight and dark fairy named Midnight were in the Uni Forest by a small tree with white buds and very bright green leaves. Starlight wore a long bright green dress and her wings were purple, green and blue that stretch five feet long. She carried a tall crystal staff. While sitting by the tree, Starlight looked up and gave a yelp and then stopped and noticed she was in the presence of Midnight, the dark fairy. Starlight was afraid of the dark fairy. Midnight wore a black and dark purple dress. She had black wings that stretched out at least five feet long too. Midnight said to her to calm down. She wasn’t going to hurt her. Starlight stopped and said sorry, my name is Starlight and asked what are you doing in the Uni Forest? Midnight replied I am looking for Uni so I can have all the riches in the land. Starlight replied I’m looking for Uni to; I need her cures for my people in the light forest for I love my people and do not want them to be ill. Then they walked away without saying goodbye. Hours went by and Starlight still was wondering about Midnight. She thought Midnight would make a good friend but still thought she might be evil because she was dark. After thinking about that she saw something white moving in her presence. She slowly crept up to it and stopped and noticed it was Uni. She stared at the beauty of the unicorn that was known as Uni and noticed that the hooves were gold and shiny even though it was stepping in mud. She slowly crept up even more and jumped to catch Uni and the unicorn magically disappeared into thin air. After that, Starlight was sitting in gooey, mucky mud and got up and went back to the Light Forest to clean herself. Hours later, Midnight was still searching for Uni. She walked everywhere in the Uni Forest. She walked up to a little pond that had glittery fish inside. She took a handful of water and took a drink from the pond and then took another handful of water and washed her face. When she looked up, she saw Uni right in front of her. She got up carefully and stepped back to look at how big Uni was. After looking at how big she was, she went around the pond and went behind Uni and went to grab her hind legs and Uni vanished from her sight.

Another day went by and Midnight went home and Starlight had come back to search for Uni again. Midnight had awoken to a sound of a loud breaking rock and got up quickly. She opened the door of her palace and noticed it was Starlight and asked what are you doing in the Dark Forest? You could get killed by all my people. Starlight replied, yes I know I can, but I am not afraid of taking this risk. I have wings to carry me away. I was wondering if we could try to work together to catch Uni. Midnight replied that’s a terrible, terrible idea! Light and dark do not work together. They work separate and you know that! Starlight said yes, yes, I know but maybe it might work to catch Uni. Midnight said I will give us two days to catch Uni. If we don’t succeed to catch Uni, the deal is off. So Midnight got ready and they set off to the Uni Forest. They walked until they got to a much larger tree than before. But this time the tree had red buds and dark green leaves. So they walked for hours searching for Uni and they decided that Midnight would fly about the trees and look down below and Starlight would stay looking on the ground. Hours went by and finally Midnight spotted a snow white animal and yelled out to Starlight to go over by the small pond where Midnight had first encountered Uni. So Starlight flew over to the pond and saw the unicorn. Midnight had also flew down and crept up next to Starlight. This time they each got on different sides of the unicorn and at the count of three, they had jumped on the Unicorn and this time the unicorn did not disappear into thin air. This time when they grabbed the sides of the unicorn, it kicked them off its back. They went flying into a tree and then Uni disappeared into thin air. They had woken up an hour later lying on the wet ground. They were in very bad pain from the kick and flying into the tree. They left to go and get water and wash themselves off and then decided they would use their magical powers next time they saw Uni. They started looking again for Uni. Later on Starlight said, do you want to talk about something while we are looking for Uni? Midnight said I guess I will so time will go by faster and my ribs will stop hurting. Then they heard a crunching sound of tree branches and started looking around for a second and found that it was just a dwarf running by. Then they started to head back when Starlight stopped Midnight and said I want to be friends, could you think about that? Midnight replied with no sound but a nod of her head. The next day Midnight came out and waited for Starlight to meet her at the small tree with the white buds and the bright green leaves again. Starlight came and said, did you think about what I said the other day? Midnight said yes and I will be your friend. Then they decided before searching for Uni they would talk and get to know each other more. Starlight suggested that they would use both of their powers, dark and light and combine them into her crystal staff and use it to trap Uni. Starlight stuck her crystal staff into the ground to where it would not move and then Starlight put all of her light into the crystal staff and it started glowing and lightening struck into the pond. Then Midnight put all the darkness she could into the crystal staff and it turned dull and glowed and then a gust of red wind and dark clouds covered the sky. When they were done Starlight pulled her staff out of the ground and they started searching for Uni. By noon, they were about half way across the Uni Forest when they noticed the dwarf running by again. Midnight stopped the dwarf with a fierce voice and suddenly a white tail and horn appeared on the dwarf and magically turned into the unicorn and then she ran off. Starlight and Midnight stood there with their mouth open and looked at each other in surprise! Midnight said if we see anything else, strike it with your staff! You never know what Uni will do next to trick us. Then Midnight said if we don’t catch Uni today I will still help you find Uni but promise me I will get all the riches and you can have the cures for your people. They agreed and continued their search. When they got to the north part of the Uni Forest, there was a big hill with Uni sleeping on thick tall grass. They flew on top of Uni and suddenly Starlight struck Uni with her crystal staff and a big explosion of light and dark circled Uni. Starlight and Midnight laughed as they knew they had captured her in their power of light and dark. They flew higher and higher as the two forests of light and dark met with the Uni Forest and became what is now known as the Meadow of Friendship. When the two forests collided Starlight and Midnight flew down and noticed their people were happily dancing and all of Starlight’s people were cured and everyone had beautiful houses and all the riches of the land. After the big excitement Starlight and Midnight decided to build a huge castle for themselves and decided to lock the unicorn in the castle for eternity. Many years past and there was still the castle that Midnight and Starlight had built. A little girl was wondering through the woods and came upon the castle. The little girl went up to the door of the castle and opened it. She went inside and went up the stairs and down the hall and found a hidden red door. She opened the door and a gust of light and dark flew around her and picked her up and carried her out of the castle and back to a strange land where a smiling unicorn lay next to her. Until this day, the light and dark remain. The land is unknown and the secret place of the little girl and the unicorn are a secret. No one knows who or where the little girl is or where the magical unicorn is. But if you find and catch the magical unicorn, she will give you all the riches and all the cures of the land. No one knows where Starlight and Midnight are today.
